Generali Switzerland, the new Main Partner for the Geneva Marathon

Generali Switzerland has been made the new Title Partner of the Geneva Marathon from 2022 onwards. Since 2017, the insurance company has been the Official Partner of the event. Due to its strong local and international presence, Generali Switzerland shares many values with the Geneva Marathon such as diversity, community and sustainability. The company places a particular emphasis on holding a well-organised and inclusive event, with a wide range of challenges on offer. These various factors were behind the decision to establish even closer ties between the two entities.

A major reason for Generali Switzerland’s strong commitment to running lies in the accessibility and convenience of the sport. Mike Fuhrmann, Chief Marketing, Customer & Communications Officer and member of the executive management of Generali Switzerland, explains: “You don’t need expensive equipment to run. If you train with dedication and set yourself a goal, you can excel. As title partner, we are delighted to support the Geneva Marathon, an inclusive, sustainable running event.”

"The Human Safety Net Switzerland THSN", new charity partner

Generali Switzerland’s foundation “The Human Safety Net Switzerland THSN” will also be the Geneva Marathon’s new charity partner. The foundation supports projects and NGOs in Switzerland that benefit disadvantaged families and refugees or those from an immigrant background. These projects all have a common goal: to create opportunities for disadvantaged people to improve their living conditions. Mutual aid and solidarity are the key drivers behind each initiative.

The foundation is also involved with running. It created the “THSN Refugee Team” in partnership with Tadesse Abraham, Switzerland’s fastest marathon runner and brand ambassador for Generali Switzerland.

In creating this running team, the foundation’s prime objective is to facilitate the integration of migrants through sport. At the same time, it supports those aspiring to a professional running career through targeted activities.

Generali Switzerland offers coaching sessions in March and April for registered runners wishing to get the most out of their training for one of the Geneva Marathon challenges. These sessions are run by four members of the “THSN Refugee Team” who have completed a course for coaches and hold an Elite Sports certificate.

A new impulse for the event

"Our collaboration with Generali has been going on for several years and we are delighted to see it evolve today and to allow them to become a Title Partner," exclaims Benjamin Chandelier, Event Director. "We have experienced some great editions with Harmony and we sincerely thank them for that. It is with great pleasure that we announce today this new partnership which will allow the marathon to continue its development. Generali is an important social stakeholder that shares our values of inclusion through sport, performance and diversity. We are delighted with this new challenge and we can't wait for the runners of the Generali Genève Marathon to take to the streets of the city".
